How to create an item
Items are the products and services you sell with Tunder. Create an item once, and it appears on your sales screen, ready to be added to a ticket in one tap.
Step 1: Open your item list
- Tap the menu icon ☰ at the top left.
- Tap Items.

Then tap the + button at the bottom right.

Step 2: Enter a title and a price
- Title: the name of the item, shown on the sales screen and on the receipt. This is the only required field.
- Price: the price you sell the item for.

Step 3: Add a photo or an illustration
Tap the circle at the top of the form, then choose one option:
- Take photo: take a picture with your device's camera.
- Choose from library: pick a picture from your photos.
- Add illustration: pick a color or an icon from the Tunder library.

The illustration library offers colors and hundreds of icons, sorted by theme (drinks, bakery, clothes…).

Tunder asks for access to your camera or photos the first time you use these options.
Step 4: Choose a unit
By default, an item is sold Per item. If you sell by weight, volume, length or time, choose the matching unit: gram, kilogram, pound, ounce, liter, centimeter, meter, feet, minute or dozen.
The price you entered is then the price for one unit (for example, per kilogram). When you sell the item, Tunder asks for the quantity and calculates the price for you.

Step 5: Add a category
Categories group your items on the sales screen, so you find them faster. Select an existing category, or tap + to create a new one.

Step 6: Add a tax
Select the tax that applies to the item, or tap + to create a new one. A tax is either included in the price or added to the price, and it appears on the receipt.

Step 7: Set price options
Tap the ⋮ button next to the price to open the price options:
- Variable price: Tunder asks you for the price each time you sell the item. The price entered on the form is suggested by default. This is useful when the price changes from one sale to another.
- Negative price: the amount of the item is deducted from the ticket. This is useful for a deposit refund or a voucher.

Step 8: Add a barcode (Premium)
Type the barcode of the item, or scan it with a barcode scanner. At checkout, scanning the barcode adds the item to the ticket instantly.

Step 9: Track your inventory (Premium)
Turn on Enable tracking to manage the stock of this item:
- Stock: the quantity you have. Tap the field to update it.
- Purchase cost: what the item costs you. Tunder then shows your margin under the price.
- Low stock alert: when the stock goes down to this quantity, the item is flagged as low stock in Inventory.
- Disable item: when the stock reaches zero, the item is greyed out and can no longer be sold.

Once you enter a purchase cost, your margin appears under the price. It is calculated on the price excluding tax.

For example, an item sold $4.50 with a 20% tax included in the price, and bought $1.50, gives a margin of $2.25, or 60%.
Step 10: Save your item
- Tap OK at the top right to save the item and go back to your list.
- Or tap Save and create an item at the bottom of the form to save it and start a new item right away.

Your item now appears in your item list…

…and on your sales screen, ready to be sold.
